2020

Mural

The Block Party mural was designed by artists Laura Lehtinen and Maikki Rantala. It was realised in the summer of 2020 on three façades of the Malski Centre. A total of 1,500 square metres of wall surface are covered by the work. The mural evokes the industrial history of Lahti and the current operations of the Malski Centre. Its references include the old Mallasjuoma factory, the beverage company Hartwall, poster art, and the history of timber construction and the furniture industry in Lahti. In addition to the mural, Block Party includes a gobo design projected onto the wall and a silkscreen relief in the Malski lobby, reproduced from a painting on the façade.
