Connections I and II (“Lahti Calling Card”)

Matti Koskela

2012

Stainless steel

Connections I and II are steel reliefs by Lahti-based artist Matti Koskela. They are mounted above the stairs leading to the platforms at the Lahti railway station. The abstract works consisting of circular shapes were designed specifically for this location to welcome travellers arriving at Lahti and to provide a modern and interesting first impression of the city.

The curving metal tubes can be seen as paths of movement illustrating railway connections between different places.
