Bronze

Veikko Leppänen’s relief Harvest depicts a farmer’s family: husband, wife and child with stalks of wheat. The husband is gathering the harvest into a sack, while the wife is holding a stack of books. The child tugs at the hem of the mother’s dress, peeping timidly from behind her mother’s back. Through the theme of harvest, the work refers to the virtues of thrift and wisdom. The idea of saving also connects the relief to the site, the wall of a bank building.
