The statue of legendary football player Jari Litmanen (b. 1971) was erected in Lahti in 2010 at the initiative of FC Reipas. The statue was placed in the park where Litmanen’s football career began when he was a young man. Born in Lahti, Litmanen lived there his entire youth. He also attended primary and secondary school there and played for Lahden Reipas football club. He subsequently made a successful football career for himself both in Finland and abroad. The statue was handed over to the city of Lahti and was unveiled on 10.10.2010 to coincide with Litmanen’s number. The unveiling was attended by “Litti” himself.
