Recycled stainless steel

At the start of Rautatienkatu Street, near Marski Square, is Villu Jaanisoo’s work The Ostrich Egg. The large ornamental sculpture is set on a high pedestal. The lace-like surface of the egg is made of recycled stainless steel.

The Ostrich Egg is part of a pair of sculptures, the other being The Laune Ostrich, an ostrich sculpture made of old car tyres, which is located in Laune’s Sokeritopanpuisto Park.
