A total of 240 posters from 25 countries were selected for display in the triennial’s 50th anniversary exhibition. The contestant chosen as the Grand Prix winner was Takahiro Eto with the poster Repetition and life: bud, P2424.

The posters showcased in the 2025 triennial were selected by a competition panel from among nearly 4,000 submissions. The winners were chosen from among the 240 shortlisted posters by an international jury.

Triennial awards granted to Europe, China and Japan

The chosen Grand Prix winner was Takahiro Eto, whose winning poster Repetition and life: bud, P2424 (2024) was praised by the jury as insightful and meticulously designed, with the composition perfectly reflecting its theme: dance. In addition, the following special prizes were awarded: The Grafia Tapani Aartomaa Prix went to Jianping He from Germany, the Lahti Prix to Szymon Szymankiewicz from Poland and the Lauri Tarasti Prix for environmental poster design to Łukasz Zwolan, also from Poland. Jianping He won the Triennial’s Grand Prix in 2017. In their statement, the jury praised the winning posters for their expressive dynamism, subtle nuances of design, and visually arresting impact.

The Lahti International Poster Triennial celebrates its 50th jubilee

The poster triennial has been presenting the work of the world’s top graphic designers since 1975. This year’s competition comprised three categories: A: Cultural, social and ideological posters, B: Environmental posters and C: Freedom of Expression, as a special tribute to the triennial’s 50th anniversary.

The Lahti International Poster Triennial is honoured to be partnering with Amnesty International Finland this year. Amnesty shared its expertise in the poster selection process, and Amnesty’s Human Rights Education Advisor Emma Åman will host expert guided tours of the exhibition highlighting the theme of freedom of expression.

The exhibition is a collaboration with the Lahti Museum of Visual Arts Malva, the Association of Visual Communication Designers in Finland, and the Poster Friends’ Guild. The triennial’s partners this year are Amnesty, JCDecaux, the City of Lahti and Lauri Tarasti.

The exhibition will be on display from June 6 to September 7, 2025, on the third floor of the Lahti Museum of Visual Arts Malva.
