History of the Poster Triennial
The Lahti International Poster Triennial is a world-famous competition and exhibition, attended by the world’s best poster designers from Ecuador to China and the United States to South Africa.
-
The Lahti International Poster Biennial was arranged for the first time in 1975. “Biennial” refers to an event that is arranged every other year. When the competition started to take place every three years in 2014, the name was changed to Poster Triennial.
-
The Lahti International Poster Triennial is specifically an international event: there are participants from Ecuador to China and the United States to South Africa.
-
You can enter the triennial by registering your poster through the competition website. Of all the registered posters, an international jury will select those that will be accepted to the triennial – that is to say, that will be displayed at the exhibition and compete for the awards.
-
Several awards are given at each triennial. The Grand Prix is the most prestigious award of the triennial. It is worth €5,000.
In addition, the Association of Visual Communication Designers in Finland (Grafia) give their Tapani Aartomaa Prix and Lauri Tarasti Prix for an environmental poster. You can find a list of the 2025 prizes on the triennial competition website.
